Base Cabinet Trash/Recycle

Base cabinet
accessories are expected in today's custom kitchens and can be quite pricey
and one of the most requested is a trash/recycle center pullout, which
generally starts north of $200.
With plywood
leftovers, a couple of lidded trash containers of the appropriate size, and a
pair of full extension, over-travel drawer slides, and you can custom make one
for way less than retail.
A simple
rabbeted frame of 3" wide 1/2" baltic birch plywood is used for the base and
one of the containers is used to make a routing template for the top of the
frame.
A router
template guide was used in the router base to route the hole smaller than the
very top dimension of the container.

cleanup and assembly results in:

containers ($7.99 each) available at many shopping mall stores, and, with the
drawer slides, cost less than $50 and a couple of hours shop time from start to finish
... and there is nothing to keep you from getting as fancy as you desire.
